Berie Nashi Cherry in full bloom.
A flock of Quail under bushes all day. 10-12
(Heard a R.C. Nightingale sing in afternoon.)
A Water Wren singing near river for sometime
in afternoon. A turkey buzzard circling
high from south toward Ben Lomond Mt.
Mar.22. Returned to Berkeley. No Cliff Swallows.
No S.V. in mountains. Panners in blossom.
At Deer Bridge: Tide very low.
West end: Br. Plow, Lt. Cinders, Willets a few
Sandpipers. Ruddy Ducks - 2 Cranes. Egrets.
On bay W. Bieben at.; at tide line Willets,
30+ miles of Sandpipers (no stop).
E. end: Avocets (nesting area); Eared Grebes
200+; Ducks, Bluebills, Shovelers >;
Ruddy ducks numerous.
Mar.23. Lut. Warbler singing (Berkeley) near
home. (Females louder than males?)
Many "chip" heard before Mar. 18, no songs.
Heavy storms end of Feb. & early March.
Mar.24. Townsend Warbler singing. Clear, chilly.
Frost on calves' shed. Early a.m., Mar.24,25,26
Mar.27. J.T.A. counted 15 dudel in road. Wind at night
Cakes in new leaf.
