Jan.3. Still raining, heavy frost across the canyon.
A large group of small birds seemed to
be mostly Ruby-crowned Kinglets with some Townsend's Wren.
Heard a juncos, a Bewick's Wren and a Winter wren singing-
during the day
Jan. 4-10. More or less rain. Have been putting
out bread for the birds - dry bread softened in
hot water. 2 Song Sparrows, 5 Fox Sparrows and
two Spotted Towhees come regularly. I very seldom
hear a Calif. Jay. Robins have been in the
yard occasionally. Yesterday I heard a Winter
Wren calling below the house. Bush tits ab. occ.
Jan.11- No rain - clear sunshine in afternoon.
J.T.A. drove me to the Aquatic Park 3-4 p.m.-
There were many Puddy Ducks and Blue bills,
perhaps a hundred of each. Saw 2 Am. Egrets
and one Foster Term and two Far. Cormorants,
Covory actively diving. Halls ab. noticed a few
Western, many Vaux's-wrings.
Jan.17. Warm sunshine. Hamilton Canyon 3 p.m.-
Very few birds. Flicker, Titmouse, Wren-At,
Vigors Wren sp., Bush tits, Willow Goldfinch
flew over high. 1 Redtail. Calif. Jay, Steller Jay-
Duna A, Towering - (No sparrows or towhees-)
Jan.23-25. Song Sparrow and Vigors Wren
singing.
Jan.26. A Vigors Wren came on to the window sill
and went over shingles next to the last window
in the front bedroom - 3 spiders or 8 spider webs?
