Hermit Thrush, Br. Knight, Hutton Vires. They flew
across the open space along our roadway, alighted
in brush to east and continued to follow into
the sunny woods near the gate. At the same time
I watched the bees in a small blossoming
heather. As soon as the brush came into the
shade they all left. Deer tracks in vegetable garden.
(Oct. 30. Dumbarton Bridge. Tide high.
1 W. Grebe (day), 1000 ±; Rare Grebes (last pool?),
2 Pied Bills (west end); White Pelican 75 ± (3-4)
St.B. Heron 1 "", Brackles 1000 ± (Pintails ±?)
Willets 100±; Avocets 1000±, resting in marshes;
Red & Sand. 2 - first this fall. Least a few.
Bon. Balls -2, Forster Teal 1. Pipits <
Nov. 1. Boulder. Skin of ice on pool, first. Clear.
Fro. 8p. 29. 8:30 am and on several times. Robin,
Br. Knight heard once. W. W. Wren, Varied Wren, Creeper, and
others as on Oct. 31. Beach flock 4:30 p.m. Rested in
sunshine with arms and legs bare - very warm.
Nov. 2. Beautiful morning. Returned to Berkeley 1 p.m. Warm.

Nov. 3-5. W. W. Wren, heard calling often. Hermit Thrush,
many R. Kinglets; the fledgling against E. window in living room. 6:10 p.m. Nov. 3 -
[illegible] Calif. 1st days. (Sp. Hawk
(see to M. & Z.) Nov. 5. Hailton Camp, Sandhill, Varied Thrush, and W.
Painted Back. Br. T. 4:20 p.m.
Nov. 6. Last wind - westerly. 5 p.m. - fine, browned hellcicle
across canyon (also heard, Dwight May Lois.)
Nov. 7. A large flock 600-800 robins (?) could be seen
against the browned hellcicle as it flew up the canyon
Toward the dense trees at the top of the ridge. 9:30 am.
Nov. 8. Still warm, some cloudiness. "Allen Hummers" found
21 sp. birds along (Strawberry) Canyon Road. 16 ducks at
west end near Stadium - Ser. Towhead Warblers. Bighorn at.
