Sept. 17. Boulder Creek. Quite cold at 7 a.m. Clear, warm
all day- Water Angel singing below cottage
off and on all day. Hilton Vires, Rb. Thrush,
Pyg. Wnithatch, Chickadee, Kingfisher. Sp. Towhee
very ragged - head almost bald (young) Brown
Towhees have finished molt.
Sept. 18. Warmer night. Clear, beautiful weather-
Sun behind trees on river bluff early a.m.-
Rb. Thrush early, Angel c. 7:30 a.m.
Heard juncos near cottage 2 p.m. Have seen
more at the table all summer.
Sept. 19. Heard the whisper song of a Townsend Warbler,
repeated several times. Saw one (yellow throat)
with chickadee. Heard whisper song of Purple
Finch.
Sept. 20. Purple Finch again, Bush: the ice garden. m-
Hot day, Virgin Wren, late p.m. Rb. Thrush, etc.
Sept. 21. Songs heard: Creeper (twice), Purple Finch,
esp. 3:10 p.m. to 3:35 with hardly a stop, Sotto voce-
Calls: Rb. Thr., Trons. W., Robin. Chickadee,
Water Angel, Pyg. Wnithatch, Black Phoebe, Cal. Jay-
An Anthony Green Heron flew over.
Hot p.m.
Sept. 22. Returned to Berkeley. D. nubarton Bridge;
600+ White Pelicans. Eared Grebes <, Pintails <
No Fodder Terns. Many more Rb. Flower,
Willet-< Sandp. < Very few avocets.
Hulls < N. Phalaropes > No Swallows-
60 lb. Curlews, a few H. Curlew - most of them
on mud in marshes at West end.
