April 9. The House Wrens are at the Flicker box-
Heavy rain. A Pileated Warbler was singing
under my window early, and in the distance
I heard a Tolmie Warbler. Hermit Thrush at dawn
April 10. Rain continues - Golden-crowned Sparrows
have their bright crowns. Piquet S.d. Sparrows
heard singing at Clarke's nursery near Sang Joe.
Same birds feeding in the oats.
April 11. C.O.C. Annual meeting. Many Cedar
Waxwings near M.V.Z.- Grosbeak singing war
house. Warbling Vireo heard. Clear.
April 12. Went with J.T.A. to Boulder Creek - Fine
weather.
April 13. Easter. Boulder Creek, a Black-
throated Gray Warbler seen and heard. James
heard an Olivaceous Flycatcher. A pair of
Juncos are together - came for bread. No Grosbeak
yet. Only one W. Flycatcher, one W. Vireo, one-
Cassin's Vireo heard. A pair of Pileated Warblers
seemed to center activities about the patch
of brooms. An Allen Hummingbird perched
on the electric wire. Warm sunshine.
Berkeley - as I came in from the garage The
birds were thick; Robins on ground, picking
up worms; Black-headed Grosbeak and
Warbling Vireo, Purple Finches, Siskins in trees;
House Wrens near flicker box; Song Spar, Spotted
Towhee singing. High fog.
April 14. The two House Wrens are busy at the Flicker
box. Hermit Thrush still here. Have
not detected Crowned Sparrows yet in oaks.
