Many Robins, Flickers, Brt Sp. Torches, Also
Black Phoebe, 1 Kniflet (P.C.), many Aud. Warblers,
Siskins, a Song Sparrow, a Titmouse, Juncos,
both Gambel and Purget Ed. Sparrows, Calif. Jays
On Sept. 30 there were almost no birds in
this area. At house - a thrasher was
Calling near end of road.
(Oct. 17. Warm - Indian Summers. Down to Boulder Creek.
Oct. 18. Took a walk from the cottages across to north side
of Valley Then by trail up mountain, starting
just south of the Landrum place (Mountain View).
At our place: Kingfisher, Chickadee, Creeper,
Pygmy Nuthatch (in tops of redwoods), Viggo Vireo,
W. Winter Vireo (near river), Hermit Thrush, Nutria
Vireo, Fox Sparrow (several under rock roses), Broom,
and Spotted Towhees.
Across valley: Black Phoebe (2-together),
Cedar Warblers (in maple tree, flying out for insect)
Golden-crowned Sparrows - flock in poison oak
Juncos, Siskins, 1 Purple Finch.
The Trail - abundancies at beginning - brush,
redwoods, oaks: Chickadees, Bush Tits,
Y.C. Sparrows, Song Sparrows, Nutria Vireo, R-c
Kniflets, Hermit Thrushes, Juncos. Higher up
as we neared the shoulder: Spotted Towhees, Calif.
Woodpeckers, Nairy Woodpecker, Flicker,
Siskins, Hermit Thrushes, Townsend Warblers
(several), Then Varied Thrushes very abr.

Several Fox Sparrows seen. - Bluebirds heard
as they flew high above us.
