Desert Trip 1941 A few Ring-billed Gulls.
a few Puddy Ducks, Kill deer, Tree Swallows,
Near Owens Lake I saw the Sage Sparrow.
We stopped for the night at the Mt. View Auto
Camp - Marshy ground behind it. Flocks of
Sambel Sparrows, a Song Sparrow, Yellow-
Throat, Tule-hen, Marsh Hawk seen.
April 2. Mr. McCabe and I went out before
Cold breakfast and saw 4 Ring-necked Ducks,
and "Coots, a Fanallone Cormorant, Cinnamon
Tial, Buffleheads, Meadowlarks, Raven,
Sparrow Hawk, Redwings, Br. Blackit.,
Tree Swallows, 1 And Warbler, 1 P.C. Knight.
Mr. Mc. saw a Lincoln Sparrow and heard
a Pheasant.
As we crossed the upper edge of
Owens Lake I saw a pair of W. Ringbids
in a brush that stood by itself on the
edge of the salt.
As we approached the Panamint Range
we found the Desert Sparrow. A pair
went under a creosote bush and flitted
about together. Rock Wrens were singing
near by.
At the summit of the pass a raven was
flying. It suddenly veered to the left
and dropped to the ground and I found
that a Redtailed Hawk was pursuing
it. They were both on the ground - the
hawk above the raven. When they flew
up the hawk rose in spirals and the
Raven flapped, when the raven was
