April 6. Song Sparrow (singing): --- -- - (1)
Call note: "Cheeck"
A pair of Vigor Wrens were carrying sticks inside
the Mann Garage — very active, both working.
A pair of Bush Tits were gathering cobwebs over
the doorway of the Mann garage. The pair with a
nest in the pine tree near Willbur's house were both
about the nest. Robins were eating the last of
the peracantha berries at the Willburs.

Other birds noted: Downy Woodpecker, Calif. Woodpecker,
(we heard near Eucalyptus Trees at Rowe place);
Calif. & Coast jays, Thrasher (canopies), Lutescent
Warbler (several located for nesting), 8 juncos and
Brown Towhees, Linnets, Townsend Warblers (flock)
S-C Sparrows (singing).
Polynis Warbler, singing at end of Morewood Rd.
April 7. A Cold, Cloudy, "Allen Hummer" group walked
up Strawberry Canyon to the Botanical Gardens.
Birds very abundant. From the Stadium Runway:
Purple Finch — 8-10, usually perched at top of pine
singing; more up the canyon.
Anduvon Warbler — flock of 20+ feeding in oaks; most in
summer plumage; some winter; singing.
Lutescent Warbler — singing. Downy Woodpecker (sang)
Calif. jays, Song Sparrows, Golden-crowned Sparrows, Siskins.
