Mar.26 (cont'd). The Lady Birds went to Lake
Nered. In the oaks near the N. entrance
to the Olympic Club there were flocks of
Willow Goldfinches and many Green-backs
and Blue Siskins. Andubon Warblers, Allen
Hummingbirds abundant also. 1 Lutescent
Warbler heard. In the Lake we saw W.
Grebes (a few), Eared Grebes (a few), 1 Pied bill -
F. Cormorants (several), a Bittern, Costs at.,
Rail (sp.?)(seen by Mrs. Sheldon); Trule Wrens,
Yellowthroat. Crowned Sparrows; Nuttall,
Puget Sd., Golden Cr. . Nutton Vires in
Japanese Tea Garden (in same spot where I
have often heard it before)
March 28: Very cloudy again in the afternoon.
A thrasher came to the table for bread.
March 29. We tried & go to Boulder Creek but
there was too much rain. Visited the
Allied Arts in Maule Park. Heard W. Flycatcher
[illegible] (seen in Bartree), Warbling Vireo, Y.C. Sparrow.
At Mt. Veis Marsh the tide was high - very few
birds. In one tiny islet there were 1 R.t. Clover,
1 Willet, 1 Dowitcher. At Dumbarton Bridge
there were about 3000 Lesser Scaups - more than
I have ever seen here before; great numbers
of Bonaparte Gulls; Redbacked & W. Sandpipers
(probably Least Ales); many Avocets, a few
Willets. At Alvarado Ponds very few Avocets,
a few Willets, Yellowlegs - Colts decreasing. Nodulus
is very few. Still no swallows at Dumbarton
but more generally distributed elsewhere.
