rotting acorns. Townsend Warblers seen
occasionally. Juncoes very ab. 8-10 Daily.
Jan. 14. A titmouse near the flicker box, scolded,
then went to opening, looked in, remained
perched there and scolded. A mate near
by. Springlike again. The Druid flock

Jan. 17. Crisp: Fog early a.m. then partial sun.
11-11:30 a.m. I walked around the hill
to Hamilton Canyon. At the mouth of the
Canyon (Willows) and on the south side
of the hill where there are ripe cotoneaster
berries there were great numbers of robins,
some purple finches and linnets. Robins
very noisy, some song. Acacias coming into
bloom. A Thrasher was perched in the top
of an oak below the road and 300 ft. ± west
of the Mann House, singing continuously.
One loud drawn out whistle was repeated
frequently - Another thrasher in a slender
Coyper above the Mann House answered
but not with enthusiasm. An Anna
Hummingbird was feeding at flowers of fuchsia
at the Dart place. And just above the junc-
tion with Arden Lane was as usual in past
winters on the electric wire. Heard a Rufous-
crowned Sparrow on the hill above (a very
warm spot). Snatches flew over. As I return
a Vigors Wren was singing (full song) near
the house. A flock of quail (Smith's flock?)
below Acacias below road.
