Least Sandpipers at, some Westerns. Yellowlegs 10+
Cliff Swallows two groups of 25-30 each
near Alvarado flying in and out under
leaves of Varno-Trodade birds with lighter heads on edged
pond, perched their tails like Tricolored Rd.
Along the road over the mountain from
Saratoga to Boulder Creek the song of the
Lutescent Warbler was frequently heard.
When I stopped to open the gate at the
cottage the first sound I heard was the War-
bling Vireo. A Pileated Warbler was singing
near the river at the west end of our place.

Mar.23. The first song in the morning (breakfast
Time) was a Cassin Vireo and later
I heard the Hutton as well as Warbling.
A Western Flycatcher called constantly
near Joy Camp during the morning.
Purple Finches singing. A pair of Juncos
flew out whenever I walked along
the path north of the cottage. Chickadees
in a flock. Several Turkey Buzzards
seen over the mountains as we drove
home. Heard songs of Gnatcatcher and
of Gambel Sparrow in Santa Clara Valley.
Perched many Fox Sparrows
The House Wren is perching near the nesting box below three
Mar.24. Clear, very warm. "Allen Hummers"
next to Alvarado Ponds, Dunnebaron Bridge
and Mt. View Marsh.
At the ponds: Avocets were abundant and were
seen feeding by swimming the head and taking
something from the bottom. Also flying as Sandpipers
do when a hawk flew over (Buteo Hawk?)
