Songy Pugetensis:
Oct. 13. Berkeley. Clear. cool. Fox Sparrow bathing
in east pool; Hermit Thrush in front pool.
Oct. 14. The Faculty Section walked up Strawberry
Canyon. Clear, warm. Birds very abundant
in spots. We heard the W.W. Wren in four
different places and saw one that hopped
up into an elderberry bush. Heard one Great-
catcher just before the road branches to the
Botanical Garden - I heard one there earlier
this fall. Ruby-crowned Kinglets were very abundant - always several in the same trees -
usually with Audubon Warblers (ab.). A
Cooper Hawk was perched on the fence on
the south side of the Swimming Pool and
allowed us to come within thirty feet before
he flew. It was in adult plumage. Flickers
were numerous. Our group of Pine Siskins in
dalders. Puget Sound Sparrows were eating
berries above the stadium and at Bowling Farm.
Y.c. Sparrows among the weeds - 4-c. Bluebirds
were heard above the Station House, and
were in their only when I came home.
No quail or thrashers seen or heard.
