1941 Inverness. Sept. 24 (contu) List of birds seen at Sears Pt. Cut-off: Red billed Grebe - the only grebe seen - 10+ White Pelican - 20+ lt. Blue Heron - 10 American Egret - 15+ Snowy Egret 1 Bittern - 1 Black or Night Heron/ Brittles - hundreds, many still in eclipse plumage Ruddies 20-30 - all except one in last pool Cormorants - one lone female. Turkey Buzzards - several Redtail - Several Sparrow Hawks, ab. Marsh Hawk 1 Coots ab. Bt. Crows, Riledeer, Lg. trop Huds, Curlew, Willet, Lgb. Dowitcher Last Sandpiper; didn't seem esp. at Napa Cr. Bridge and near Vallejo. Avocets 200+ in last pool Shulls. Bonaparte's others. Night hawks - one flew across the road very near us. - a dark gray bird with broad head and white chin Brown Black birds ab. Meadowlarks. Marsh Song Sparrows ab. We lunchecl just inside the gate to the Hunting Club, then drove on toward San Rafael to a road Turning toward the Petaluma road which we crossed at N. Novato. Turned left through Novato then right on a road that crosses toward Pt. Reyes. Saw: Morning Doves, Sp. Hawks, Crows, W. Bluebirds, V. Meadow- Larks, Dark Sparrows, and as we neared Pt. P. Sta. Pequot Id. Sp.
