Sept. 16. The Faculty Group went to the Aquatic Park -
Weather Clear, warm, no wind. At the R.P.T.
Pool we saw the American Egret, many n.
Phalaropes, Calif and Bonaparte Gulls, Least Sand,
I Willet. At the island in the long pool Pied-
Billed Grebe, Farallone Common Loon Western, Calif.
and Bon Gulls, Fork-tongued g., I Willet a
few Least Sandpipers and the Pomarine
Jaeger. The Jaeger behaved just as he did yes-
today. When we went to the east side
of the pool we could watch his tactics
better for we could see behind the island
and the length of both booms - The jaeger
several times flew over the northern boom
arousing all the birds perched there, passed
east of the island to the south boom
starting all the birds there, then singled
out one tern and got his fish, then
settled in the pool until ready for
another dash.
We drove out to the end of the old pier
at the foot of University Ave. To see if
any Pelicans could be seen but we found
none. Gulls were Western, Common, Far.
Several members of the group reported Tauer-
gers in Berkeley during the past week.
Mr. Leaven reported hearing a Fox Sparrow.
Sept. 17. W.W. Wren near the east pool at dawn and
until 7 a.m.
Sept. 19. A Bk. Thrush heard.
