a family of very young Bush-tits sat at house.
June 21. Saw male House Wren enter box - is it
the same male with another mate? The
brood which left June 16 has not been seen
since. Heard W.Tanager in afternoon.
June 22. House Wren at box about 9 a.m.
The following birds are singing near the house:
Thraaer, Grosbeak, Rob. Thrush, Spotted Towhee,
Brown Towhee in Mrs. Person's garden (no mate?),
Song Sparrow, Junco (below house), Immature
Warbler, House Wren.
A group of Bush-tits seemed to be of two
ages - some gave adult notes, others
the call of young birds. Two families
united in flock? Warm.
June 23. Many families of young birds about.
St. Eunice's Junco, Bush-tits (thirty in one
flock - all able to feed themselves as far
as I could see - no calls of young birds).
A Hutton Vireo was singing just east
of the house - the first I have heard,
since the heavy rains of March. A few
minutes later a family of Vireos was
in the garden. I thought they were Hutton
Vireos but I was interrupted before I
could verify it. Lois saw a family of very
young quail below the house.
June 25-27. Boulder Creek. High fog early in the
morning, clear by 7:30 or 8:30 a.m. Warm
with fresh breeze. Ocean and Monterey Bay
covered with fog and fog below Felton until
