Calling constantly - like young bird. They flies away together ✓ G. Goldfinch - a large flock in oak trees at junction of the two roads. (To Bot. Gard. 4 up stream). ✓ Blue Siskin - a few pro. in pines near trail. ✓ Spotted Towhee - 12-15 near trail especially, ✓ Brown Towhee - 6+ pr. - only two near trail. ✓ Junco - 1 feeding up out quest in pines near trail. 1 singing near swimming pool. ✓ Chipping Sparrow - three near road, south of Bot. Gar. ✓ Song Sp. abundant - general. May.8: Young Lutecut Warblers can be heard calling just east of bird bath. May 9. The Lady Birds went to Clear Lake. Summer day- Country green and wild flowers very abundant. First stop at southern end of the Silverado Trail where we had orchard, woods and stream side with Twenty eight species of birds present. Such a medley of sound that we spent half an hour, getting them all clearly separated. List: Grosbeak, Rkt. Thrush, Vg.Swallow (nesting in holes in oak), Zuid, Lutiet, Yellow Warbler, Doug Sparrow: Wood Peace, Spotted Towhee, Bluebird, Downy Woodpecker Cooper Hawk, Titmouse, House Wren, Creeper, W. Flycatcher, Lutecut Warblers, W. Vires, Cassia Vires, Buggard, Robin, Br.Towhee, Black Phoebe, Oriole, Rough-winged Swallow, Calif. Woodpecker, Crow, Lazuli Bunting. We lunched at the Jerome Landfield place and added three The Tolvain and Black- Ths. Gray Warblers.
