Vigoro Wren, Lug Sparrow, Calif. Purple Finch, Shrew,
B.Goldfinch, Pine Siskin, Spotted & Brown Towhee,
Song Sparrow. Summer visitors (migrating through)
Western Flycatcher, Flycatcher(sp.?)- soft
gray, no eye ring, light bars in wing (no median
line). Pileated Warbler. Winter Visitors;
Towhead Warbler (small groups) came without
Black Throat), A Fugit S.S. Sparrow, Taubel
Sparrow (2 seen in Lebmann Garden) Total 25 sp.
Not seen or heard: Russet d. Thrush,
Hermit Thrush, R.C Kinglet, Fox Sparrow,
G.c. Sparrow. On the afternoons I
heard G.c. Sparrows singing in Strawberry
Canyon. Mrs.Thompson who lives in
North Berkeley (Cragmont) said she saw
both: Fox Sp.+ Gc. Sparrow three days ago.
Oct.7. Dumbarton Bridge: While Pelicans 600t,
Egrets ? (no stop), Willets and Bb. Clover, Bundled
on a dyke 300t; N. Phalaropes 400t; Pintail
Ducks 50t, some full plumage (not eclipse);
Sandpipers mainly Least.- increasing but
no large flocks; Eared Grebes 200t,
very near the roadway in the last pool
to north before reaching the bridge. Among
the first ones seen was the albino seen
first July 29 and again on Aug.7. This time
