Los Banos Finally it flew away with the Kingbirds in Close pursuit. Later we found the Kingbirds nest on the cross bar of the electric pole near by. List of birds seen: W.Grebe: two on large pond in Game Refuge. Crid-billed Grebe - several in breeding plumage. White Pelicans - about 50 - in soaring flight - St Blue Herons - com. everywhere - in all poses. Am. Egret - com. in wet meadows and on ponds. Snowy Egret - 9 - seven in group on one pond. Audubon Green Heron - one - Los Banos. Black cr. night Heron - abundant, Bittern - several. Mallard - very abundant. Cinnamon Teal - many pairs seen. (The may have seen birds, Gadwalls & Redhead but not in favorable light or near by.) Turkey Buzzard - many - in various localities Redtail - in Bachies Pass. Marsh Hawk - one in the B. Pass - many csp. in Refuge. Sharpshin Hawk - in B. Pass and elsewhere. Roughlegged Hawk - two males seen in Refuge. Gallinules - several - One with family of 6 small yps. Coots - ab. No young seen. Kildeer - everywhere, in marshiest meadows - Hudsonian Godwits 6 - flew over at sunset - toward N. Dowitchers - 6 - in wet meadow Avocets - Most of them in one pond (alkaline?) Stilts - 40 pps±
