20. Tule Wren - Heard singing at Lake Merced
where we caught glimpses of it.
21. Ruby-crowned Kinglet - singing.
22. Audubon Warbler - many seen.
23. California Purple Finch - eating melon
seeds.
24. House Finch - abundant in tea garden.
25. Willow Goldfinch - one in full plumage
singing continuously at Lake Merced.
26. Nuttall Sparrow - everywhere abt.
27. Golden-crowned - heard.
28. Song Sparrow abundant.
29. Spotted Towhee - heard.
30. English Sparrow - at Tea Garden.
At Lake Merced the wind was so strong
at the East end of the lake that we could
not do birding except from the car,
so we did not find yellowthroats.
March 28. Cloudy, cold. I heard the Varied Thrush
when I got up at 6:30 a.m.
March 30, 31 Warm. Jean saw gulls migrating.
April 1, 2. Cloudy with rain at night. J.T.D drove
to Boulder Creek. J. burned the rest of the brush,
and I worked in the garden - Flowering peach, T
Crabes, daffodils in full bloom. On the way
down we passed the Alvarado ponds - very
few birds - some Sponbills, one pintail, one
Greater Yellowlegs. On the return trip we
stopped at Mt. View Marsh where birds
