Mar.11. Cloudy - No rain - Drove & Boulder Creek and back. Near Wt. Eden much land under water but no birds. Although the thermometer went down to 28° last night at Boulder it was very warm in middle of the day- no wind - air very balmy. I heard a Creeper sing and a Western Winter Wren was calling near the river. At Charlie's Nursery where we stopped near San Jose there was a large flock of Target Sound Whitecrows singing. Also a flock of warbling's. Near San Lorenzo (south) a mother flew across the highway. On the way home we crossed to foothill back of Alvarado to see if Brown-winged Teal were still in the pond but found nothing in that pond. Shovelers were in the pool south of the road, a Yellowlegs (st.) in the meadow and Killdeer calling. Before leaving Berkeley (8a.m.) I heard the song of a Lutescent Warbler. Mar./12. Thrasher singing at dawn. Later a real chorus of song- Titmouse, Song Sparrow, Kinglet, Thrasher. Also Snail calling. March 13. Faculty Section met to Colomnices Park. Just clearing after rain all night. Not cold. Many birds singing. Trees not injured by the fire which burned the wooden cover (roof) of the reservoir. I kept a census of the numbers of birds seen
