farther out . Flocks in flight - 20-30 -
Godwits - scattered, or mud - alb. Yellowlegs,
2 seen, one certainly smaller than Willet.
Avocets 100+ . Pintails a few, one Ruddy.
A very spectacular sight - so many
birds everywhere and so many flocks
rising, wheeling, settling - Sometimes
they looked like great waves on the beach,
when the surf is high. Cloudy - Some wind -
Drumbaroton Bridge. The usual Eared Grebes.
No shorebirds except on mud flats at
west end where there were some plowen
and sandpipers - several Cl. Rails. No Stop.
Dec. 25. We put out a wreath made for the
birds. But it were apples, nuts, bread,
and meat. Within half an hour the Song
Sparrow and Fox Sparrow were eating
the meat. Beautiful weather.
Dec. 26. Warm, clear. The Titmouse was
singing several phrases and a Varied
Thrush sang in full tone.
