Willits and Godwits. As I did not have my bi-
oculars I could not study them in detail.
Two A.m. Egrets west of the bridge. 1 Ruddy Duck
on the bay. Cold, clear.
Dec. 12-17 Cold east wind.
Dec. 16. Warmer. No wind. About 4:30 p.m. I
visited the bay, shore ponds to see an
old Squaw Duck reported by Mr. Kelly.
It was with a group of Ruddy and Blue-

The dark spot on the side of the head, and
the dark grey wings.

Gulls were present but less abundant. All
Wise Sandpipers, Willets, Godwits, B.B. Plover

even before the mud was exposed. Then single
Willets began to appear; then a flock of Dowitchers;
then Godwits and both kinds of Curlews. A flock
