May 4. Bought last piece owned by Anthony's on our side
of river. Went to Santa Cruz to complete transfers.
Returned through Sand Hills - Many birds along
Gavante Creek above Mt. Herman. No white canoebulums.
Walked up Marosky Creek and found none.
May 5. Worked in garden. Canoebulums, lupine, broom, in
full bloom. Roses and Brite Locust beginning.
Very warm. Returned to Berkeley p.m.
Wood Peave above Saratoga. Very warm.
May 6 - Fog in Berkeley after three days of gentle
hot weather with last wind. Watered garden.
Nomes have disappeared from oak trees - nodropping.
May 7. Left at 1:35 p.m. for Davenport where we
spent the night. Chilly high fog.
May 8. Drove to Pt Reyes then back to Berkeley -
Birds seen or heard:
Pacific Loons - a pod migrating past the Point
W. Gable - on S.F. Bay -
Brown Pelican - one at Pt Reyes - (?)
Band Cormorants - many at St. Reyes - White feathers
on flanks show even when wings are folded - to cliffs -
Brandt Cormorants - Many - Beginning nests on rocks
just off shore, next to Mura Rocks -
Blue Heron - several in marshes
Anthony Green Heron - one fled from a small stream in
Olana marsh - bill and feet reddish orange.
Night Herons - 6-8 near Davenport -
Gray Seter - a few at Pt Reyes - full plumage
Turkey Buzzards - 12 seen
Redtail Hawk - 85 - one mobbed by Crod over Tomales Bay
Marsh Hawks - several - one full plumage.
Sparrow Hawks - 2 -
