Many all penguins Marsh Hawk, Occasional Sparrowhawks, a pair Turkey Buzzards (Mrs. Nelly reported Kites). 2 Kingfishers, 78 Grasshoppers, many And. Warblers, flickers, Golden- rod and Gilded Sparrows, Blue Bell Phoebe, W. Bluebirds, B.C. Red & Blackbirds. Crows. Country very beautiful: hills green, always blossoming, mustard in patches. In Valley many low amouldering fires, burning last year corn stalks: plowing. Weather warm. Feb.20 Rain. Feb.22. Boulder Creek. Partly cloudy, showers at night. Feb.23 "" "" "" Gusty, partly cloudy. Chilly - Many places of band-tailed pigeons. Took a walk on hill above Mr. Windlebel's. Pigeons went through the trees, some flew from the ground. Nutton Vines near Joy Camp, pair of Black Chokeberries near Huntington. Varied Thrushes near P.P. Space. Not many birds about - W.W. seen heard below Windlebel's. Feb.24- Clean, sunny, crisp. Beautiful day - Pigeons again. Returned to Berkeley via Skyline & San Mateo, thin by Bridge. Tide coming in, almost high. A few shore birds mainly sandpipers. A few B.B. Plovers. Feb.27. Cloudy. Not cold. Worked in garden most of day. Lutecant Warbler singing at 9 a.m. Heard several times and seen also. Many Allen Hummers, also Ambers. Feb.28 Rain all day.
