35. Western Tanager - most ab. each day.
36. Cassin Purple Finch - " " , mating
gave continually calls like those used by
Black-headed Grosbeak when young are out-
Dawn song first noticed June 8.
> 37. House Finch - ab. near cottage, often
singing from roof. Building nest near top
of young fir - about 7 feet from ground. June 7 -
Mrs. Nauldin said they had noticed flickers
of them for several weeks.
38. Evening Grosbeak - seen near Tahoe Tavern,
June 5 - one crushed on highway near "The Hut"
> 39. Sierra Crossbill - three came into yellow pine
in front of cottage June 8 about noon. One male
in full plumage.
✓ 40. Sierra Fox Sparrow - very ab. in all brushy areas,
2 males Singing constantly near cottage. Seen
occasionally on the porch.
✓ 41. Green-tailed Towhee - ab. On June 9 came to
pick up shredded wheat crumbs from porch rail.
✓ 42. Pine Siskin - heard occasionally, also seen.
✓ 43. Siskin, Junco - very ab. Young out June 8 -
✓ 44. W. Cliff-sping Sparrow - ab. Mating June 3 -
✓ 45. Mt. White-crowned Sparrow - in meadows - Not so
abundant as I expected to find them.
✓ 46. Modoc(?) Song Sparrow - on island on or Truckee river
48. Mt. Duet - heard frequently.
> 48. Cedar Waxwing - one settled in yellow pine in front of
cottage June 8, 1 p.m. Stayed about 8+ minutes.
> 49. Goshawk - flew out from pines on Truckee river
where Squaw Creek flows into it - June 8.
Failed to find Hermit Warbler
S.D. Sh. Sh. Hawk seen at Donner Pass near bridge.
