of Spotted Towhees stayed together all the morning.
They seemed to be locating a nesting site; spent
much time in the bayed bushes in the edge of Mrs.
Parsons place where they usually nest in summer.
Jan. 26. Raining -
Jan. 27. Clear morning - Rain p.m.
Jan. 28 Raining.
Jan. 29. Clear so started to Boulder Creek but it
soon became stormy so we only went across
Dunvarion Bridge, to Mt. View Marsh and to
Scangore for lunch, then home. Streets in
Berkeley were flooded when we drove in.
Birds seen. Plo. Clover - many at Mt. View, afp at 8
(Long) Long billed Curlew - 40t
(Com) Willets
(Com) Red backed Sandpiper - 20-40 at bridge - salt pool
Long b. Dainchero - 15-20 at Mt. View Marsh.
Least Sandpipers - 1000+ on mud at Mt. V.
Godwits - one seen on Mt. View Marsh.
Zared Grebes - 100+ on east two salt pools at
5 spots sheltered from wind (S.W.)
Tide was coming in and mud flats at the bridge
were covered but marshes were still exposed. No
Pelicans, Egrets; a few 4 ft. Blue Herons in wet fields,
many Killdeer, 20+ Plo. on salt pool, no
Bon. Gulls. For Many Clapper Rails at West of Bridge and
in marsh. Mt. Hamilton range white will Snow
and much snow at summit of coast range above
Sonataga.
Jan. 30. Still raining - a few flakes of snow at 9:30 a.m. Song
Sparrows, Wren-t & Thrasher sing between showers
Feb. 2. Staduim to W.F. Club. 9:30-11a.m. 1 Anna Hummingbird, 4 Cal. jays, 2 Flicker,
2 Titwrens, 40+ Bushtits, & Wrentits, 18+ Robin's, 8 Neriart Thrushes,
