June 9.
Found Fish Hawks nest of top of broken red-
wood tree - Mother on nest - Father on
death branch of tree near by. After
watching them an hour I saw the
mother fly over the hill and return
a little later with a long stick in
her talons. Stick must have been about
3 ft. long. The father remained
on his perch.
In the evening both birds were
flying over the rivers.
June 10. Walked up to Farmer Jones' ranch
on top of ridge. Beautiful river.
Turkey B. prominent. Hermit Th.
singing.
June 11. Went home via Sebastopol, Pet-
aluma, St. Richmond.
June 12. Found we were to leave for
Boulder Creek. Began house cleaning.
Father House where had Box 3 full
of sticks. Flying in and out constant-
ly and singing with his head out of hole.
June 17. Went to Boulder Creek to
Mrs. F. C. Johnson's Cottage in
grove of beautiful redwoods -
