Jan.29. Found Black and White Warbler
again in oak trees at N. end of Piedmont
Ar. Creeps along branches picking food
from under the bark. Note - a high chip.
Feb.11. Heavy rain for three days.
Brown Towhee got hung by stout
string in hazel brush. String was en-
tangled about one foot then wound
about the branch. Bird screamed in
distress. Was swinging like a pendulum.
Many Jays, Wrentits etc. responded
to distress calls.
Banded. - 49010.
Feb.16. Went to Lake Meritt. Saw or heard
Flicker, Meadow Lark (many feeding on lawns)
Brown Blackbirds, Pipits (about 150) Nuttall
and Intermediate Sparrows, Song Sp. Golden
Crowned Sp., Robins, Western Gulls, Ring-
billed Gulls, Eared Grebes (about 150), Pied-
billed Grebes (6) Reddy Ducks, Canvas -
backs, Bald Pates, Ruffle Necked, American,
Golden-Eyes, Lesser Scaup, Coots, Shovelers,
Calif. Gulls, and Bonaparte Gulls.
