Mrs. Edwin Mead reports that she had moved a humming bird's nest (disturbed by painters). Contained two young partly feathered and stretching their wings. She put the nest into a different bush and shelters it under a piece of corrugated paper. The mother continued feeding them. Apr. 7. Cold. Cloudy. Apr. 8. Clear. Chilly north wind. Apr. 9. Clear. Saw Bird-tailed Grouse Rared Grouse, Mallard Duck (8 young), Ruddy Duck Quail, Red-shafted Flicker, Allen's Hummingbird, Brewer Blackbird, Cal. Purple Finch, House Finch, Pink-sided Sparrow, Yellow-breasted Chat, Myrtle Warbler, Pac. Yellowthroat, Oleander Warbler, Vigor's Norn, Plain Titmouse, Bud-tit Ruby-crowned Kinglet:
