May 19. Started to Los Angeles. Went on Harrard S.S. Beautiful
Smooth trip.
May 20. Reached L.A. 11 A.M. Automobile ride up
Mt. Hollywood late in P.M. Many wild flowers
and birds. Mintits, Grosbeaks, Spurred Towhees,
Thrashers singing .. Near new L.A. High School
many Horned Larks running about in grass.
May 21. Automobile trip to Ocean Park.
May 22. Boyle Heights
May 23. Went to Claremont by Electric by
way of Pomona. Pomona to C. by auto -
Cold, rainy. Orange groves so large
and beautiful. In full blossom.
May 24. Claremont. Cold. 25. Cold.
May 26. Warmer. Clouds cleared so we could see
mts. Snow covered. Went out to reach, Mt.
Theater. Saw students drilling. Saw
following birds: Anna H., Mourning Dove, Meadow
Lark, Buzzard. Spurred Towhee, Thrasher,
Vagans Wren, Vrentit, Barn Owls (dead), Yellow
