May 1916. Blue-sided Flycatcher, Western Tanager, Black- headed Grosbeak, Lazuli Bunting, Anna Hummingbirds (with first young in bushes), Parkman and Virgin Trees, Western Flycatcher, Song Sparrow. Several pairs (there at least) feeding young. May 10. Mrs. Parker brought me a Blue Jays nest containing two young first hatched- absolutely naked, eyes closed. Drowned the young, thin preserved them in alco- hol and sent them to the Museum. May 11. Had Bird Party for the Junior Audubon Circle. Each child had a nest and told its story. Car the Bird Alphabet from Ladies Home Journal, Cut out birds from cookie dough and had children name them; owl, gull, Wren, wren tit, thrasher, brown thrasher, hummingbird, etc. etc. About ten children and fifteen guests.
