Apr. 38.(Contini) Sparried Mavis nest.
Five young - still naked except wing.
Yellow line along tail. Old bird
flew out as lifted cover. Soon after
a bird (no.1.) appeared on branch
above tank with a worm in its
tail. Sat and scolded till no. 2
appeared chirping and apparently
trying to drive no. 1 to rest. After
some seconds no. 2 took the worm
from no. 1 and swallowed it. No
1 then departed, no. 2 flew
almost immediately to the water tank
cought one or two insects in the spider's
webs, alighted on board at the
bottom of the tank (where I tried to
photograph her) flew up to meet
and remained there. After some
minutes no. 1 returned to the tree
near the tank, watching me very ner.
