Black Turnstone - one feeding on rocky shelf just
above water, turning stones over with bill. Good light
marking distinct.
6 Red shafted Flicker - saw three.
7 White-crowned Sparrow - saw one near Alameda shore.
8 Rail (?) Saw one in clough on Alameda side.
9 Song Sparrow - Santa Cruz - numerous
10 Salt-mash Song Sparrow - several
11 Linnets - many feeding on thistles by road side.
12 Cal. Thrush - Saw 8-10 on island.
13 Great Blue Heron. Saw 8 or more - one in
marsh on Alameda side of bridge.
14 Horned Larks - saw 20-30 in gardens on
newly planted and fertilized ground.
15 Sparrow Hawks - saw three.
16 Forster Terns - 6-8 feeding near shore.
17 Cormorant - 1 flew by near beach.
18 Western Grebe - 6 or more off shore living
19 Red-winged Blackbirds - a few among Brewers
20 Curlew - one near beach, 8 in marshes, most
of them Hudsonian
21 Ducks - flock flew over.
24 Gulls Heleins, California Gullgills - on Garbage dumps
