Aug. 1. Cal. Br. Torches feeding young on feeding ground. 2. Thrushes have stopped singing. 4. Heard Black-headed Grosbeak 7. Vireos singing. Young song sparrows practicing constantly - 1st brood ? 8. Thrashers about feeding ground again. 9. Intercut warblers singing again. 14. Flushed seven-eight large quail as I closed window in last bedroom 15. Vireo (Viren) still sings occasionally. Also Vireo. Flock of vireos bathing 10 in fountain at once. 16. Swallows (cliff) still circling about. S.F. Torche (old birds) & Cal. Torche moulting. Intercut warblers singing. 17. Shrew-sided flycatcher catches mosquitoes from wire opp. Mr. Parsons every day in later afternoon. Saw family of young quail in Mr. Parsons garden near fence at back. Blue Jay still feeding grown young
