Spent ten days, July 20-30 at
Summit (Donner P.O.) - altitude
7000 ft.
Saw following birds
1. Sooty Grouse
2. Western Night Hawk, July 26. Found
female and two young on
rocks above Lake Angeline-
So perfectly protected that I
could not find them although
James told me they were there.
Took photograph. A few days later
we met up at duck, and as
we neared the meeting site the
old birds swooped down from
above within a foot or two
of our ears.
