1904,
June - Crockers (Saguia)
Cassin's Vireo was very abundant.
Its song sounds something
as if it were saying -
"Mamie, Mamie, Come here,
quick" and when repeated
every few minutes grew rather
monotonous.
We had a splendid opportunity to
compare the songs of the Black-
headed Grosbeak and Robin, both
of which has nests near by.
Unless one could distinguish
the thrush quality in the robin's
song it would be difficult
to be sure always which was
which. (Fuller notes found later given
on odd pages back.)
