just 5:30. Small bit of [illegible] in bottom of egg shell. - attempts practically dry - laid tissue paper. Apr 7 Arrived at nest 9:10 A.M. - bid not m - weighed egg and 5 young until 9:30 - eggs - fully piped as others were returning a.m. Will expect hatches soon Birds came close to nest but were silent - did not happen to be near when I was at nest. Bid m at 9:30 - young getting cold. 10. A.M. - once at 9:45 - and again at 9:55 - birds left but both tours did not catch nor feed on returning but looked at young. One jumped off and sat beside nest other loofed at young - not feeding - then settled on return - this lot due to fright. at 10.05 male arrived with visible food from W side - fed to female who wriggled throat affably immediately - she left nest at once - she sat by nest doing nothing - did not peer in. She returned - may have gone to ground - but looked and did not feed - then sat.
