April 5
Arrived at 930 at no 6
- egg intact - birds behaved as usual. Eggs one and three showed definite cracks around the side - near equator - not at end. I believe I was mistaken yesterday in thinking cracks or scratches were showing at end. No 2 - showed two cracks - hole is certainly a nest cheek-claw work. - may have killed embryo. 4,5,6, not perfected
Visited no 7 at 10:00 and saw bird sitting for sure. - I thought bird was sitting yesterday & and may have ruin all that! Egg infertile. A bird, presumably female which had fluffed as I walked under tree, came back and sat close to me in tree - 8 ft - was affaith with remarkable what? Untruth. I gave a scrouff chicks but no other note.
Returned to no 6 at 5:15 P.M. - bird on as usual. - Eggs all very definitely cracked around equator - some for ½ cm at a time - except eggs 2 & 6. No 5 had slight cracks - a piece
