what later proved to be nest and
which I was certain of at the time.
Male then sat beside nest - within a
couple of feet for 40 min - only once
turning around (10.20 - 11.08) Finally
moved off then eucalypt. I marked the
four eggs, which were in nest. Evidently
an egg laid by female around 10 or
10:10. Was not sitting after that.
Birds made no demonstration or even
close approach while I was at nest.
Went as no 4 - bird sat close as
I came up from behind cover willows
and did not flush till I suddenly
scared her by shaking branches.
She jumped off - off a male
appeared at edge of tree - sat
close by - seemed to be larger
and perhaps lighter but I am not
distinguishable in this pair with
certainly.
Nest had 7 eggs - I took one.
Last laid - D. maculata - it was
3.7 inch - very small as I
suspected. Only egg fertile out of other 9 present due to rapid
flurrying.
Birds sat even closer than
Wyni - female recent in same
site - male in usual perch
of 2 after flurbing - that is the
first time. I could give a nodifuge.
