8 in two minutes, she retired
And tried to get on nest while
I was within 10ft on the ground.
Once settled on nest but at motion
of my hand left. Made no
noise but was very bold — if not
about — bold perhaps because of
cool wind. Twenty-four, then
left to let her sit for 4 min
and warm the eggs up — then
weighed other eggs — (Cafraid scale
not accurate — significantly polluted
from wind — or like 4-5 eggs are
dead as they did not look at
all) Bird returned slowly though
scans were set up a few feet away
Eggs not picked
— was carefully with survey chart —
are behaving A.K.
Left at 6 P.M. — G had not appeared
in 40 min — no guiding thought — as part
of female who did not have time to
go to ground.
Apr 3 — arrived at no 6 at 9:30 —
Male found on bridge or tree beside
it and flew north as I passed
trips. Female flushed from nest
as I approached from S. A coward
