About four or five days ago he is more frequent and effective - he now picks at top of cage and investigates all meat objects with beak. Watches flies or moths in the room. He will now pick meat off of forceps, and if very hungry off of the perch as I lay it down but not after I have left it. Once he took meat and held in bill after being well fed and then tried to lay it down as push as adult does - carried it to another perch and then dropped it completely. A hawk was presented to him - Red-Tail - yesterday and he stuffed other backwards on perch taking defence attitude and giving a few [illegible] chiccato notes.
