- Muir Woods Trip - Saturday, July 11, 1914, 8:30 A.M. - 3 P.M. Route - From Ferry Bldg. to Sausalito by Ferry; Sausalito to Mill Valley by train; Mill Valley to Redwood Canyon, thence thru Muir Woods, then up Mt. Tamalpais rail- road track, returning to Mill Valley by "five trail" - a walk of 7-8? miles. Number in party 18. Weather conditions; On S.F. Bay, windy and partially cloudy- some mist. Mist and fog encountered on hill slopes, especially above timber line. Life Zones and Bird Associations. 1. Region between Mill Valley and Sausalito. - This is a region of tide flats and tule marsh land. Birds observed: - (1) Brewer blackbirds, 2-3 large flocks, foraging on tule flats. (2) Nuttall crows; 12-15, tule flats, on ground or perched on tule-stalks. (3) Great blue heron (1 only) on mud flats standing in shallow water. (4) Journal gulls - several - forag-
