1705 [illegible] 1 SW - very large, near body size, all dark except white at base of primaries on underwing. Very heavy & chunky, short black tail (darker than rest of body). Short Wings. Flew with slow stroke while any seabird I've seen yet. Was sitting on water ahead of ship. When it flew, it went in SW direction. Mostly a [illegible] or giant petrel of some sort.
