Immature almost caught when hovering over ship 600 astern of ship 500 to port light phase Seen for a second or so close to ship or other side from me - flying rapidly into sun's path. Appeared thin-winged large shearwater sized, light grey above white below. Wing tips seemed patched with black. Perhaps gull? Low over water, gull like wingbeats interspersed with glide. possible Sooty Shearwater about one mile off port 0853 Shearwater sp. 1 N 0903 [illegible] Harcourts Storm Petrel 1 @ WT to 15 ft. within 50 ft. of port side of ship at closest point Tyrre B 0906 Shearwater sp. 2 N observed by watch on horizon (about one mile away) possible Sooty Shearwaters spotted by watch 0925 Feeding flock Sooty Tern 40±10% Wedge-tailed Shearwater Shearwater s.p. 10 light 0945 Wedgetail & Storm Petrel sp. Unidentified Shearwater/petrel 1 light white underparts - white underwing w/ very small dark edges except at ends of primaries where black is thicker - light grey from back - slow flying, loose flapping - almost like Sooty Tern, short glide. About Wedgetail sized same as 0720. 1023 Sooty Tern 1 @ 4.0ft inched ship [illegible]
