medium-sized petrel brown dorsally, breast belly white, underwing brown with irregular white centerline very thin, fairly loose wingbeats "white-headed look"
flushed from water- hoary lumbering flight, loose flaps heavier than Wedgetail flight, bird large & chunky, buzzes like Wedgetail, with more robust body wings the broader at base. upperparts dark brown, underparts like Wedgetail but not as clear i.e. somewhat smudgy white instead of clean white - grey-brown upperneck coloration extended well down. Post centerline forming a partial neck band.
