Sh sp 1 NW Seen very inadequately by me, Perry says Cook's 1 - thought it too large; too brown myself! Initial glimpse and I thought WT but do not trust "instinct" judgement for self. 1526 RTTB 1 S 1531 BFA 1 Following ship. Possessed definitely lighter upper tail coverts but color brown (possibly due to morning). Not an evident white patch. 1545 Sooty Tern RFB Wedgetail J.S. Cook's Retirel TB sp. 20 ± E 15 ± ultimately a Section T.B. red feet, 3 ± 1 1 Feeding Flock. By the time we approached Hiel midst Sooty Terns were very high in the air as was the Tropicbird. Wedgetails were all light phase Boobies appeared to be white-phase anadult but one seen closer to the ship was a mottled SA red foot. The mottling was sparser than is often the case in this age-group (or intermediate phase?) 1624 RFB 1 N 1633 Tropicbird sp 5 NE 1635 Noddy Tern 1 NE 1641 Noddy Tern 2 NE 1648 Noddy Tern Wedgetail light 1715 BFA 1 Very prominent white rump patch - under tail coverts white as well. 1726 - still present. 1726 BFA 2 Circling around behind ship to W - 2nd at one turn. This bird essentially dark-rumped - Could be 1531 b.d. actively feeding with medium Slayjack 1735 Pom Jaeger 1 1740 Noddy Tern 100 ±25 Wedgetail 10 ±2 Sooty Tern 2 1755 end observations 1810 Immature Red Foot Booby circled ship several times
