SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION WASHINGTON 25, D. C. Birnie Island Progress Report Two days were spent here during which the moon hampered activities considerably. Birds There were relatively few birds present on the island. Seventeen species were recorded of which 4 were breeding. 300 individuals of 6 species were banded. 217 returns were obtained from 3 species. This data is given below. Species Banded Returns Pet. Insects : Complete collections were made from all plants and habitats. Three Berlizi samples were run. Blood Samples : 21 samples from 31 birds were obtained. Plants : The same three species observed on the last visit were again recorded.
