SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION WASHINGTON 25, D. C. Phoenix Island - Progress Report The party landed here the afternoon of the 3rd and left at 6 AM on the 6th. We worked a harder and longer schedule since we were leaving for Samoa on the 6th and would have several days to rest up. Late rising and reduced brightness made banding easier than on McKean. Birds: 25 species were recorded of which 17 were nesting Banding: 5772 individuals of 12 species were banded.
