4 February 1963 Sea Records Time Locality Species Remarks 1145 brown booby leaving Pearl Harbor, saw one flying, one sitting on buoy 1210 bf albatross flew past ship, circled (?) 1215 bf albatross following ship 1218 jaeger flew by port side, lit on water 1220 jaeger 2 sitting on water, starboard 1227 21° 17.9' N brown booby flying 157° 57.4' W 1228 " frigate flying 1245 bf albatross approached ship, didn't follow 1305 bf albatross 2 now following 1305 jaeger 3 since 1250 1320 bf albatross 1 following 1320 jaeger 3 following 1321 jaeger 4 now following 1322 jaeger 6 now following 1330 21° 03.9' N jaeger 8 now following, as ship slowed down 158° 07.4' W they lit on water 1332 bf albatross 2 now following 1340 jaeger shot 1, backed up to pick it up, others hovered over dead one 1345 jaeger shot 2nd one 1350 jaeger all left after 2nd one shot, total last count was 11 1350 bf albatross all left after 2nd bird killed, total last count was 3 1351 laysan approached ship but did not come close 1355 terns (?) passed ship headed toward land, too far to identify
