April 4 Today was spent counting the breeding pairs of Mallards on the north & east portions of the ranch. The weather was clear with just a slight freeze. I saw the first pair of Wood Ducks I've ever seen in the wild. They were on a pond in the willows along the Yolo by-pass, at the edge of Swanson's.
